gaining weight after stopping glp 1 loss maintenance discontinuing GLP-1 : r/Zepbound weight gain after stopping glp-1

GLP-1 RAs demonstrated a beneficial effect on weight loss as opposed to the weight gain seen with insulin

4.1 Limitations of the current literature Although research examining the combined and comparative effects of GLP-1 receptor agonists and exercise is rapidly expanding, several limitations constrain the current evidence base

Healthy gut microbes like Akkermansia muciniphila and Bifidobacterium stimulate GLP-1 release by fermenting dietary fibre into short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) - beneficial compounds like butyrate

These adaptations reduce energy expenditure and can contribute to fatigue when energy intake falls too low

So, What changes in practice

This mechanism is expected to drive the next breakthrough in high-quality weight-loss therapies and may become a true game-changer in the field
